The Solutions Architect Director is the senior operational leader of the client’s US engineering organization. Where the VP of Technology sets strategy and governs outcomes, this role executes — managing the team day-to-day, owning platform reliability, driving delivery, and ensuring architectural quality across all domestic systems. The Director is also the primary operational bridge between the US engineering team and the overseas development resources built to support US operations, turning the VP’s strategic investments into tangible, measurable results.

**Hybrid (3 days onsite in Dublin office)

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIS)
The Solutions Architect Director is accountable for operational execution — hitting the targets the VP is responsible for setting and funding.

  • 99.9% Platform Uptime – Achieved: Own the execution of platform reliability: monitoring, alerting, incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Measure: sustained 99.9% uptime; mean time to resolution (MTTR); incident frequency trend.
  • Engineering Team Velocity & Delivery: Lead the US engineering team to consistent, predictable delivery. Measure: sprint commitment fulfillment rate, defect escape rate, feature cycle time, and on-time delivery against roadmap commitments.
  • Overseas Team Integration: Enable the overseas development team to operate as a seamless extension of the US engineering org. Measure: knowledge transfer completion, documentation coverage, and overseas team contribution to US delivery.
  • Architecture Quality & Standards Adoption: Define and enforce architectural standards across all US systems. Measure: design review completion rate, critical architecture debt items resolved, security and scalability compliance across new systems.
  • Project Delivery Efficiency: Execute the project intake and evaluation framework established by the VP. Measure: intake-to-kickoff cycle time, requirements clarity scores, and reduction in mid-project scope changes.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering Leadership & Team Management

  • Assume full day-to-day management of the US engineering team — performance management, hiring, onboarding, and development.
  • Build a team culture grounded in accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide mentorship and career development guidance to senior engineers, architects, and team leaders.
  • Define team structure, role expectations, and progression frameworks in partnership with the VP.
  • Report regularly to the VP on team performance, delivery status, SLA metrics, and engineering health.

Architecture & Technical Standards

  • Own the architectural vision for US technology systems — establishing and enforcing standards for design, scalability, security, and reliability.
  • Lead solution design reviews and serve as the final technical escalation point for the US engineering team.
  • Ensure all architectural decisions account for reliability, scalability, flexibility, and security.
  • Translate complex technical decisions into clear communication for non-technical business stakeholders.

Platform Reliability – Operational Ownership

  • Own day-to-day platform uptime and SLA performance — implementing monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes.
  • Lead post-incident reviews, root-cause analysis, and remediation planning to prevent recurrence.
  • Proactively identify and address technical debt, infrastructure gaps, and scalability risks.
  • Escalate resource or investment needs to the VP where SLA targets are at risk.

Overseas Team Collaboration

  • Maintain the operational interface between the US engineering team and the overseas development resources.
  • Maintain knowledge transfer processes, documentation standards, and communication protocols between teams.
  • Define clear technical scope, deliverables, and quality expectations for overseas contributions to US projects.
  • Provide structured performance feedback on overseas team integration with the VP.

Project Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Participate in the project intake and evaluation framework; champion consistent delivery methodology (Agile/Scrum) across the engineering team.
  • Work with TPM Principal in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and delivery reviews; communicate project status clearly to the VP and business stakeholders.
  • Partner with business unit leaders to translate requirements into engineering work and manage expectations on delivery timelines.

Budget & Vendor Management

  • Participate in the annual technology budgeting process; develop and present operating and capital budget proposals.
  • Monitor departmental expenditures and report variances between actual and budgeted results to the VP.
  • Manage technology vendor and contractor relationships engaged in US engineering work.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 15+ years of progressive software engineering and/or solution architecture experience, with a track record of delivering modern systems to production at scale.
  • 5+ years in a Director-level or equivalent senior leadership role managing engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in architectural judgment — designing scalable, secure, and resilient systems.
  • Strong command of Agile/Scrum delivery; experience leading sprint-based engineering teams.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical strategy clearly to non-technical business stakeholders.
  • Hands-on coding background with the ability to participate meaningfully in design and code reviews.
  • Familiarity with integrating AI/GenAI tools into day-to-day engineering workflows.

Preferred

  • Experience in telecom, fintech, payment processing, or prepaid wireless platforms.
  • Background working with or managing distributed/offshore development teams.
  • Familiarity with VidaPay or similar mobile/web SaaS products.
  • Experience establishing SLA frameworks and driving infrastructure reliability improvements.
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
