JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Device Solutions business is hired by external companies from startups to Fortune 100 to assist them with their product development needs. Clients choose to work with us because of a proven track record for developing innovative and marketable solutions to challenging technical problems. The Electrical Engineer will be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary teams that we form around each project. A large focus for the group is on medical device development. This has included projects for mass produced drug delivery devices, immunodiagnostic systems, surgery tools, large scale imaging systems, and more. Regardless of whether the device is in the user’s hands or part of a larger system of care, they all are driven by the same ambition – to positively affect the user’s health outcome.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Support or lead electrical design efforts related to new product development projects, through all phases of the project lifecycle including definition, design execution and documentation, design verification, and production incorporation, which includes:

  • Develop analog and digital circuit designs for subsystems or systems based upon requirements
  • Fabricate, test, debug, and implement electrical and/or software designs
  • Complete projects and tasks within budget and schedule, communicating results and progress in written and oral communications to project leadership and commercial clients
  • Define functional needs and design requirements
  • Generate appropriate design documentation
  • Apply creative thought to unusual design challenges, and apply state-of-the-art technology to their solutions
  • Follow supported processes and procedures
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Verbal presentations to management, clients, and vendors
  • Written communications in a structured, regulated environment
  • Work effectively independently or as a member of a project team
  • Support the ecosystem of a creative and innovative workplace culture by mentoring junior staff and interns
  • Be an advocate for continual improvement process and technology initiatives

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline AND 5+ years of related experience
  • Experience with analog, digital, and electro-mechanical circuits and components, which may include voltage and current regulators, FETs, LCDs, microprocessors, relays, motors, switches, solenoids, etc.
  • Candidate must be self-motivated, organized, and a problem solver who works well within a team
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills to support interaction with cross-functional team members, and internal management

THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED

  • Experience with integration of hardware and software/firmware systems.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting/ fault isolation techniques is desirable.
  • Experience with communications and interconnects standards and protocols including USB, I2C, RS232, RS485, CAN, Ethernet, Bluetooth, and/or Wifi.
  • Experience using structured methodologies and analysis techniques such as simulation packages, tolerance analysis, experimental design and evaluation.
  • Working knowledge and experience in risk analyses (i.e. ISO14971).
  • Background in medical products operating under a registered QS and under FDA Design Controls.
  • Experience with safety standards (UL, IEC, TUV).
