The Senior Scrum Master in this remote contract role is critical in delivering success for customers and will help to enable and deliver next generation retail technology! This role can be focused in a number of exciting and innovative areas including eCommerce, Marketing, Omni-channel, Merchandising and Pricing, Supply Chain, Corporate Systems, Security and Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, Architecture, and others!
 
Agile Development Team Facilitation

  • The scrum master is responsible for leading scrum ceremonies, remove obstacles and facilitate problem-solving, collaboration and conflict resolution to enable the most effective work delivery for one or more complex product and/or program teams. 
  • Manage Scrum teams and scrum of scrum on complex agile programs. 
  • Interfaces with product managers, engineering managers and other key stakeholders to maximize development team effectiveness by engaging the right teams, supporting the estimation of day-to-day work and leading delivery for assigned teams.

Agile Release Planning

  • Plan and replan software releases for complex initiatives or programs as they are produced to ensure timely updates and to deliver the planned benefits as early as possible in the initiative or program.

Agile Backlog Management

  • Facilitate refinement of the backlog with the product manager and optimize the deployment of resources to reduce costs and increase the value of the work delivered to the business.
  • Work with the project manager to manage the backlog.
  • Define the execution plan to disseminate innovative capabilities across the businesses, helping people develop these competencies and enabling them to innovate through solutions such as idea generation platforms, jam sessions, and hackathons.

Digital Strategy/Transformational Projects Execution

  • Lead execution of digital road map, establishing and managing business processes, programs, and initiatives, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and governance activities.

Program Risk and Issue Management

  • Manage and facilitate identification of risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints associated with one or more programs or initiatives, escalating these where appropriate. Where necessary, develop, agree on, and implement solutions to overcome these.

Ongoing Learning and Development

  • Develop own and more junior team member capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
  • Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Actively engage in self-learning and looks to grow skillsets and experience in the client business, Scrum/Agile practices, Project & Program Management, Change management, and Retail commerce functions.

Program/Portfolio Planning

  • Produce workstream or program plans, ensuring that all activities are identified, are appropriately organized to deliver program objectives, and comply with the organization’s approved methodologies, frameworks, and standards.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to reviewing existing operations in area of work and generate new ideas to assist in identifying continuous improvements.

Transformational Change Management

  • Act as a transformational change agent within assigned program and area of responsibility, ensuring integration with other disciplines/functions; use structured change management methodologies to drive acceptance of change and to embed desired culture and behaviors.

Benefit Realization

  • Carry out baseline assessment and post-implementation analyses to contribute to the measurement and tracking of business benefits.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s Degree or Equivalent Level Preferred
  • Professional Scrum Master Certification or Certified Scrum Master Preferred
  • Experience enables job holder to deal with many situations and to advise others (Over 3 years to 6 years)
  • 1 year experience in a retail environment
  • Experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes (13 months to 3 years)
