DEC Presents: Social Entrepreneurship is Changing Columbus: Join the Movement
Join us at the DEC on Thursday, April 21st from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.
Program: Social entrepreneurship is not just a trending fad; it’s a way of life for many passionate entrepreneurs who want their business to affect positive change in their community and the world at large.
So, what is social entrepreneurship, how does it work and why should you care? In a nutshell, a social enterprise is an organization that applies commercial strategies to maximize improvements in human and environmental wellbeing, rather than maximizing profits. These social companies are making a big splash in Columbus. In fact, there are already more than 40 social enterprises that exist in Central Ohio. You might have heard of Hot Chicken Takeover, initiated by Joe DeLoss or CleanTurn, started by John Rush. These are just a few examples of do-gooders turned successful business owners. You can read more about what’s going on in Cbus here.
During the presentation, Allen Proctor will explain the ins and outs of social enterprise, how the business model works and why it’s making such a splash in Columbus. You might even find that you feel compelled to get involved in the movement yourself!
