Ben Wizner, director of the ACLU Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project will deliver a lunchtime talk on “New Technology, the Fourth Amendment, and the Future of Privacy.”
Mr. Wizner has spent nearly 15 years working at the intersection of civil liberties and national security, litigating numerous cases involving airport security policies, government watch lists, surveillance practices, targeted killing, and torture. Since 2013, he has been the principal legal advisor to NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.
As the Snowden revelations revealed, surveillance technologies have dramatically outpaced democratic controls. Has the digital age rendered old notions of privacy obsolete? Or can the Fourth Amendment’s guarantee of personal privacy be reimagined for an era of ubiquitous tracking? Join the ACLU’s Ben Wizner for a conversation about these questions, and more.
The event will take place in the Barrister Club, located at 25 W. 11th Ave., Columbus, Ohio, 43201 (located across 11th Avenue from Drinko Hall, above Panera).
