We’ll take a look at the components that comprise modern web applications, explore performance and scalability, and architectural concepts

About this Event
Software is a lot more complicated than it used to be. Twenty years ago most applications lived on individual machines as executables. Today modern applications run in a combination of environments including web applications, mobile apps, APIs, and databases.

In this talk we’ll take a look at the various components that comprise modern web applications, explore performance and scalability, and give a general overview of advanced architectural concepts like caching, database partitioning, NoSQL, microservices, and containerization.

By the end of this talk you should have a greater high-level understanding of modern architectural concepts and how the pieces fit together, as well as more knowledge on where and when these approaches are appropriate to use.

Our Speaker
Matt is committed to helping people (and their code) achieve greater things. After nearly two decades of working as a professional software engineer, Matt put away his mechanical keyboard and made teaching others his primary job in a continuing quest to invest in the community and up-and-coming developers. Matt focuses on building quality software applications using C#, F#, TypeScript, Angular, Vue.js, and plain-old JavaScript.

When he’s not teaching or coding, Matt writes on software engineering at KillAllDefects.com, maintains Side.Dev, builds highly unusual side projects, goes on refactoring frenzies, and enjoys learning new things to share with the community at large. Matt is currently writing The New Developer’s Guide to Application Architecture and Scalability.
