This class is great for beginners — no previous coding experience required!

This class will meet on Tuesdays for 4 weeks:

Tuesday, August 7 – 6:30-8:30pm
Tuesday, August 14 – 6:30-8:30pm
Tuesday, August 21 – 6:30-8:30pm
Tuesday, August 28 – 6:30-8:30pm

(Due to the restrictions of Meetup’s registration, we can’t schedule multi-day events, so keep in mind that this Meetup event serves as registration for the entire class.)

There are multiple garages in the Arena district, however the Marconi Cinema Garage is the most convenient and it is recommended you park there. There is also 2-hr metered parking in front of the building on Marconi as well as on Nationwide Blvd. At this time, we are not able to validate parking passes.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
This class will be taught by Caitlin Steinert. Caitlin is a UX Developer working for Base Two. She has been messing around with HTML and CSS since middle school, and has no intention of stopping any time soon. Caitlin is passionate about sharing her love for front-end development – and tech in general – with anyone willing to listen.

WHAT TO EXPECT
We will guide you through the basics of HTML and CSS and help you use them to create a simple website. You will gain some readily-applicable skills, and we’ll answer any questions you may have along the way. Concepts will be reinforced through hands on, in-class exercises.

WHAT TO BRING
• Students are asked to bring their personal laptops to use if they have one. (Sometimes work laptops have limitations.) If you do not have access to a laptop please contact us (columbus@girldevelopit.com) before the first class; we may be able to provide a loaner laptop for you to use during class.

• A modern browser (Google Chrome is preferred).

• Sublime Text (http://www.sublimetext.com (http://www.sublimetext.com/)), a text-editor that is free and available for both Mac and PC.

SCHOLARSHIPS
We are able to offer two scholarships for this course. If you would like to attend this class but are unable to due to financial reasons, you can apply for a scholarship here ( http://bit.ly/GDIC-Scholarships ). The deadline for scholarship applications for this class is Wednesday, August 1. Applicants will be informed by Friday, August 3 whether or not they have been granted a scholarship. Scholarship students are guaranteed a seat in the class, even if the Meetup event is full.

Scholarship requirements:

• You are a member of the Girl Develop It Columbus Meetup group ( http://www.meetup.com/girldevelopitcbus ).

• You are able to attend at least 3 of the 4 classes.

If you have any questions, please contact Girl Develop It Columbus (columbus@girldevelopit.com).

REFUND POLICY
Your payment of $96 guarantees your seat in the entire course. We put proceeds into the chapter fund, which we use as our scholarship fund. Refunds can only be granted if the class is canceled, relocated, or rescheduled.

OTHER DISCLAIMERS
Our program and curriculum are geared toward adults over the age of 18; at this time we do not accept minors as students in our courses and workshops.

Please note, registration for this workshop will close 48 hours before the event, so be sure to sign up before Sunday, August 5!
