Abstract:
The Machines Are Coming: With the continued proliferation of the internet of things, machine learning and artificial intelligence are beginning to become common place in our daily routines. We are surrounded by new technologies and platforms that are generate huge amounts of data that can be leveraged to learn, react and create new rules or insights into improved performance. We will explore the scope of artificial intelligence in our daily lives during the first part of the presentation and then demonstrate how we can leverage the Alexa platform/technology to solve real life business cases. Shannon Lowder will demonstrate a “thinking out of the box” use cases where the Alexa platform can be used to solve a business problem. This will showcase a behind the scenes look of the Alexa platform and it’s capabilities.
Dave Kuhnau – Senior Enterprise Account Manager at DMI:
As a professional services leader with over 20+ years in the software, technology and the data domain expertise, Dave has worked with a wide variety of clients in most industries. Dave’s focus on data early in his career gave him a foundation of dedicated expertise in for advanced uses in data analytics, warehousing, dashboarding, integration and other advanced analytical needs. Currently Dave is a Senior Enterprise Account Manager for DMI where he strategizes and delivers to his clients a pathway to success in the digital transformation domain. This includes everything from the digital mobile devices to custom applications, from advanced analytics with data to machine learning and the AI platforms. In his free time he enjoys extreme adventure racing, running and time spent with his family.
Shannon Lowder – Managing Consultant, Data Analytics at DMI:
For over 15 years Shannon Lowder has been spotting patterns and learning ways to work smarter instead of harder. He started with development and moved into database administration. Using T-SQL, Database Jobs and PowerShell, he automated himself out of contracts quickly. As Business Intelligence became a greater demand, he moved into SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS development. Early on, he tried using PowerShell and .Net to automate BI Development. Later those efforts turned to Biml (Business intelligence markup language). After founding a startup six years ago, he finds himself a data platform consultant, designing and guiding other professionals to build highly automated enterprise solutions. Today, he is the 9th Biml Hero to be recognized by Varigence for his work in data warehouse automation. In his free time he’s involved with the Boy Scouts of America, stained glass and stone masonry projects around the house.
