Azure Innovation Days 2018 Tour
In this workshop, attendees will get hands-on experience with the Azure platform. As one of many workshops to come, we’ll touch on getting started with the basics, and focus on the most popular Azure services to quickly get your workloads running on the platform. For most users, these services are vital to a successful implementation and consumption of cloud services moving forward.

Agenda
Overview and Lab Setup
AHEAD will give an overview of the Innovation Day and answer any initial questions about the lab configuration.

Presentation 1 Azure Networking Overview
Learn about all the options available to you when constructing your network in Azure. VNET Peering, Routing, Security Groups, Load Balancers, and On-Premises connectivity will all be covered in this presentation.

Lab 1 Azure Networking
Create an Azure VNET, Subnet, and Network Security Group. Create a second VNET and peer it with the first VNET.

Presentation 2 Azure Compute – Virtual Machines
AHEAD will present everything you need to know to get started with Azure Compute options and then dive deeper into Virtual Machines including Resource Groups, VM Instance Types, Specializations, and Disks.

Lab 2 Azure Virtual Machines
Create a new Virtual Machine using the Azure Portal, and then via PowerShell. The lab will help demonstrate how a VM is deployed and how you can connect to it. Once deployed, you will then learn how to deploy VMs into availability groups.

Presentation 3 Azure Storage Services
Learn about all the different types of storage available to you in Azure as well as how to determine which service to use to solve your use cases.

Lab 3 Azure Blob Storage
Create an Azure Storage Account for Blob Storage and then use it to upload a series of image files. In addition you will learn how to use Storage Explorer and AzCopy before finally deploying your own Azure Files Service which will be mounted onto the Virtual Machine from Lab 1.

Presentation 4 Azure Monitoring and Operations
Learn about the various services available to you in Azure for monitoring your environment.

Lab 4 Configure Monitoring and Log Analytics
Take a tour of the Microsoft Operations Management Suite, including Log Analytics, Azure Monitors, and Azure Security Center. Run Log Analytics queries for troubleshooting, configure Azure monitors, and create a resource lock to prevent accidental deletion of Azure objects. Finally, configure Just in Time (JIT) access for your Windows Virtual Machine you built in Lab 1 to restrict RDP sessions via Azure Security Center.

Presentation 5 Automation Technologies
Explore the different automation tools available to you in Azure and potential use cases.

Lab 5 ARM Templates
Destroy everything we built previously, and then rebuild it immediately using an ARM template.

Happy hour immediately following the workshops.
