Nine o’clock in the morning at a spa in downtown Alexandria turned into happy hour during the community Christmas festival for many. The Village Spa hosted the first “open to the public” tasting for 1487 Brewery and it was clear who wanted a sample when they came through the salon doors. Several beer fans following 1487 Brewery on Facebook and Twitter made a special trip to Alexandria to try the first-batched Hefeweizen and original German-American Pale Ale. Even those not familiar with beer or this bavarian-style of beer came back for more.
1487 will be hosting tastings until they obtain their permit allowing them to distribute beer for sale. They expect to receive that permit early next year.
In the meantime, they’re still working on recipes and currently brewing a Munich Dunkel and a Kolch as well as honing in the hefeweizen recipe. They recently kegged their first batch of the rarely produced but extremely delicious altbier.
They’re still looking for support as they did not reach their goals in their Kickstarter crowd funding campaign that ended on Dec. 15th.
They can be found on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
