We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data & Low Voltage Technician II to oversee, install, and maintain critical information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure. This role requires extensive, hands-on experience executing complex infrastructure projects within high-stakes environments, including hyperscale data centers, hospitals, schools, and new industrial construction. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical execution and project leadership—serving as the primary on-site customer contact while directly managing, mentoring, and ensuring the safety of installation crews.

Travel Requirements: Travel when needed; open to project-based relocation

Key Accountabilities

  • Project Delivery: Direct on-site operations for mid-to-large-scale low-voltage and structured cabling installation teams (crews of 10+ installers and technicians), being one of the leads on the team helping to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within scope, and up to quality standards.
  • Client Relations & Communication: Serve as the one of the leaders on-site, one of the points of contact between the client, general contractors, and end-user customers, facilitating direct client contact, resolving field issues, and providing transparent project progress updates.
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to local codes, industry standards, and OSHA safety regulations across all active field operations and lift environments.

Essential Functions & Basic Duties

  • Infrastructure Installation: Working as Lead Technician for deployment, upgrade, and maintenance of all structured communication systems, including Category cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A) and advanced fiber optic networks.
  • Advanced Terminations & Testing: Perform precision fiber optic cable splicing, termination, and testing; utilize advanced diagnostics equipment such as Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (OTDR) and standard cable testers to complete strict quality assurance validation.
  • System Integration: Install, service, and upgrade secondary non-electrical technology lines and their connected ecosystems, including Wireless Access Points (WAPs inside and outside of buildings), Audio-Visual (AV) system hardware mounting, Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), and facility security/fire alarm integrations.
  • Technical Blueprint Translation: Read, interpret, and implement construction plans, electrical schemas, blueprints, and technical layouts to properly plot physical pathways, equipment racks, and spatial configurations.
  • Logistics & Fleet Operation: Manage and operate company field vehicles, aerial lifts, and specialized material transport tools securely; coordinate with subcontractors
  • Quality Assurance Documentation: Formulate construction project reports, maintain precise cable labeling schemas, and oversee system close-out verification to assure total quality control.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements: High school diploma
  • Field Experience: Proven track record as a Lead Technician or Crew Manager in the telecommunications and structural low-voltage trade.
  • Environment Expertise: Demonstrated background operating within heavy industrial construction, active healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and mission-critical enterprise Data Center environments.
  • Labor Affiliation (Preferred but not required): Previous experience or alignment with IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) standards and structures is a strong plus.

Licenses & Certifications

  • BICSI Certification (Highly preferred)
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (Required for company vehicle operation)
  • Able to pass background and drug tests

Core Skills & Technical Proficiencies

  • Soft Skills: Exceptional time management, organizational skills, cross-functional communication, and a strong attention to detail under tight project constraints.
  • Software/Tech Literacy: Experience with mobile field devices
